First Step Gala Makes Major Strides for Kids

Dear Friends:
Thank you to everyone who helped make the First Step Gala a giant success! We are still calculating the total amount raised and are confident that together we brought in important funds to provide many children with treatment and travel grants for 2017. We will send an update soon!

In the meantime please enjoy the Gala photos here »

Thank you to our keynote speaker, Dr. Partha Nandi, for your encouraging words about the importance being a health hero for yourself, your family and your village.

Thank you to Sahar Saad for sharing Fatima’s inspiring First Step story.

Thank you to Nick Ballard and family for sharing Nick’s story of determination and perseverance.

Congratulations to 2015 Pacesetter awardee, First Step Gala event sponsor and one of our favorite medical professionals, Dr. Eileen Donovan for winning the $1,111 raffle.

D-MAN Foundation – Ziad Kassab, founder of D-MAN Foundation, was recognized for enriching the lives of families and individuals with physical and mental disabilities through D-MAN’s Music Therapy Studio and Assisted Travel Program. For more information, visit www.mydman.org.

The Gandee Family – Congratulations to the entire Gandee family for all of their efforts, including three CP Swagger awareness walks where big brother Hunter carries little brother Braden on his back for lengthy multi-day treks and for raising $220,000 for CP research at the Univ. of Michigan and for building an accessible playground at Braden’s elementary school.

Marty Sheedy – was named a Pacesetter for starting and developing Project Scissor Gait Foundation, to educate, promote and provide research funding opportunities for people affected with scissor-gait, prune belly syndrome and arthrogryposis. Dr. Susan Youngs, MD - Dr. Youngs was recognized as a Pacesetter for dedicating her life to helping children with special needs. She founded the Center for Exceptional Families when she saw that her patients did not have access to resources that would support them and their families through their journeys toward independence.

Congratulations to EPF Founder and President Michelle Haney for being recognized with an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Euro-Peds Foundation board members. Your steadfast vision and kind leadership is the driving force behind so many initiatives that are making a tremendous difference for the children and families the Foundation supports.
